Cxapitro 1
1 Pauxlo, apostolo de Kristo Jesuo, laux la ordono de Dio, nia
Savanto, kaj Kristo Jesuo, nia espero,
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God
our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
2 al Timoteo, mia vera filo en fido: Graco, kompato, kaj paco
de Dio, la Patro, kaj de Kristo Jesuo, nia Sinjoro.
Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and
peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3 Kiel mi, ekironte en Makedonujon, petis vin resti en Efeso,

doktrinon,
As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went
into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they
teach no other doctrine,

la fido--tiel faru.
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which
minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in
faith: so do.

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure
heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
6 kion maltrafinte, kelkaj homoj sin deturnis al vanta

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain
jangling;
7 dezirante esti instruistoj de la legxo, kvankam ili ne

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither
what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
8 Sed ni scias, ke la legxo estas bona, se oni gxin lauxlegxe
uzas,
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 sciante, ke la legxo ekzistas ne por justulo, sed por homoj
senlegxaj kaj malobeemaj, malpiaj kaj pekemaj, malsanktaj
kaj profanaj, por patromortigantoj kaj patrinomortigantoj,
hommortigantoj,
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man,
but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for
sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers
and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 malcxastuloj kaj viruzacxantoj, homsxtelistoj, mensogantoj,
falsejxurantoj, kaj cxio ajn alia kontrauxa al la sana
doktrino;
For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with
mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons,
and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound
doctrine;
11 laux la konfidita al mi evangelio de la gloro de la benata

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which
was committed to my trust.
12 Mi dankas Kriston Jesuon, nian Sinjoron, kiu min kapabligas,

servado;
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for
that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 kvankam mi antauxe estis blasfemanto kaj persekutanto kaj
insultanto; tamen mi ricevis kompaton, cxar mi tion faris
nesciante kaj nekredante;
Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and
injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly
in unbelief.
14 kaj la graco de nia Sinjoro abunde suficxegis kun fido kaj
amo, kiuj estas en Kristo Jesuo.
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith
and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 Fidinda estas la diro, kaj inda je plena akcepto, ke Kristo

estas la cxefa;
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of
whom I am chief.
16 tamen pro tiu kauxzo mi ricevis kompaton, por ke en mi, kiel
la cxefa, Jesuo Kristo elmontru sian tutan paciencegon, kiel
ekzemplo por tiuj, kiuj poste kredos al li por eterna vivo.
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first
Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a
pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to
life everlasting.
17 Nun al la Regxo eterna, senmorta, nevidebla, la sola Dio,
estu honoro kaj gloro por cxiam kaj eterne. Amen.
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only
wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
18 Cxi tiun zorgadon mi komisias al vi, mia filo Timoteo, laux

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to
the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them
mightest war a good warfare;

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put
away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
20 el kiuj estas Himeneo kaj Aleksandro, kiujn mi transdonis al

Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered
unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
Cxapitro 2
1 Mi konsilas do, antaux cxio, fari petegojn, pregxojn,
propetadojn, dankojn por cxiuj;
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for
all men;
2 por regxoj kaj cxiuj eminentuloj, por ke ni vivadu trankvile
kaj kviete en plena pieco kaj seriozeco.
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may
lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and
honesty.
3 Tio estas bona kaj akceptebla antaux Dio, nia Savanto,
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Saviour;
4 kiu volas, ke cxiuj homoj estu savitaj kaj venu al la scio
de la vero.
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth.
5 Cxar ekzistas unu Dio, kaj unu interulo inter Dio kaj homoj,

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus;
6 kiu sin donis kiel elacxetajxon por cxiuj, ateston

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due
time.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak
the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles
in faith and verity.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy
hands, without wrath and doubting.
9 Tiel same, ke virinoj sin vestu per decaj vestoj, kun

perloj, aux multekostaj vestoj;
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest
apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided
hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 sed (kio konvenas al virinoj konfesantaj la piecon) per
bonfaroj.
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good
works.

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority
over the man, but to be in silence.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was
in the transgression.

Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they
continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Cxapitro 3
1 Fidinda estas la diro: Se iu celas episkopecon, tiu deziras
bonan laboron.
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a
bishop, he desireth a good work.
2 Episkopo do devas esti neriprocxebla, edzo de unu edzino,
sobra, moderema, ordema, gastama, instruema,
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife,
vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality,
apt to teach;
3 ne vindrinkema, ne batema; sed mildanima, ne disputema, ne
monamanto;
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;
but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 reganta bone sian propran domanaron, tenante siajn gefilojn
sub regado kun cxia seriozeco
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in
subjection with all gravity;
5 (sed se iu ne scias regi sian propran domon, kiel li zorgos
pri la eklezio de Dio?);
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall
he take care of the church of God?)
6 ne novico, por ke li ne sxvelu per fiereco kaj ne falu en la
kondamnon de la diablo.
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into
the condemnation of the devil.
7 Krom tio li devas havi bonan ateston de la eksteruloj, por
ke li ne falu en riprocxon kaj kaptilon de la diablo.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are
without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the
devil.
8 Tiel same diakonoj devas esti seriozaj, ne duflanke
parolantaj, ne tro amantaj vinon, ne avidantaj malhonoran
gajnon;
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not
given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 tenantaj la misteron de la fido en pura konscienco.
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Kaj tiuj ankaux estu unue provitaj; poste ili servu kiel
diakonoj, se ili estos neriprocxeblaj.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the
office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Virinoj ankaux devas esti seriozaj, ne kalumniantoj, sobraj,
fidelaj pri cxio.
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober,
faithful in all things.
12 La diakonoj estu edzoj de po unu edzino, regantaj bone siajn
gefilojn kaj siajn proprajn domojn.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their
children and their own houses well.
13 Cxar tiuj, kiuj bone servadis kiel diakonoj, akiras al si
bonan gradon kaj grandan kuragxon en la fido, kiu estas en
Kristo Jesuo.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase
to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith
which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Cxi tion mi skribas al vi, esperante veni al vi baldaux,
These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee
shortly:
15 sed se mi prokrastos, por ke vi komprenu, kiel oni devas
konduti en la domo de Dio, kiu estas la eklezio de la
vivanta Dio, la kolono kaj bazo de la vero.
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest
to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church
of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 Kaj laux konsento, granda estas la mistero de pieco: Tiu,
kiu elmontrigxis en la karno, pravigxis en la spirito, estis
vidita de angxeloj, pripredikita cxe la nacioj, prikredita
en la mondo, prenita supren en gloro.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen
of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the
world, received up into glory.
Cxapitro 4
1 Sed la Spirito klare diras, ke en la venontaj tempoj kelkaj
defalos de la fido, atentante delogantajn spiritojn kaj
doktrinojn de demonoj,
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing
spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 per la hipokriteco de trompantoj, kiuj havas la konsciencon
kauxterizitan kvazaux per brule varmega fero,
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared
with a hot iron;
3 admonante ne edzigxi, kaj deteni sin de mangxajxoj, kiujn

kredas kaj scias la veron.
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats,
which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of
them which believe and know the truth.
4 Cxar cxiu kreitajxo de Dio estas bona, kaj nenio devas esti
forjxetita, se oni gxin ricevas kun dankesprimo,
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be
refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 cxar gxi estas sanktigita per la parolo de Dio kaj per
pregxo.
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 Se vi memorigos la fratojn pri tio, vi estos bona servanto
de Kristo Jesuo, nutrita per la vortoj de la fido kaj de la
bona doktrino, kiun vi jam sekvis;
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things,
thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up
in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou
hast attained.
7 sed forrifuzu profanajn kaj avinajn fabelojn. Kaj ekzercu
vin al pieco;
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise
thyself rather unto godliness.
8 cxar korpa ekzercado malmulte utilas; sed pieco utilas al
cxio, havante promeson pri la nuna vivo kaj pri la estonta.
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is
profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that
now is, and of that which is to come.
9 Fidinda estas la diro, kaj inda je plena akcepto.
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 Cxar por tio ni laboras kaj batalas, cxar ni apogas nian
esperon sur la vivantan Dion, kiu estas la Savanto de cxiuj
homoj, precipe de la kredantoj.
For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we
trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men,
specially of those that believe.
11 Tion ordonu kaj instruu.
These things command and teach.
12 Neniu malestimu vian junecon, sed vi estu ekzemplo al la
kredantoj, per parolo, per konduto, per amo, per fido, per
cxasteco.
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the
believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit,
in faith, in purity.
13 Gxis mi venos, atentu legadon, konsilon, instruadon.
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to
doctrine.
14 Ne malsxatu la donacon, kiu estas en vi, donita al vi per
profetado, kun la surmetado de la manoj de la presbiteraro.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the
presbytery.
15 Estu diligenta pri tiuj aferoj; dedicxu vin al ili, por ke

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them;
that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Zorgu pri vi mem kaj pri via instruo. Persistu en tio;
cxar, tion farante, vi savos vin mem, kaj tiujn, kiuj vin
auxskultas.
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in
them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and
them that hear thee.
Cxapitro 5
1 Ne riprocxu maljunulon, sed konsilu lin, kiel patron; la pli
junajn virojn, kiel fratojn;
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the
younger men as brethren;
2 la maljunulinojn, kiel patrinojn; la pli junajn virinojn,
kiel fratinojn, kun cxia cxasteco.
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all
purity.
3 Respektu tiujn vidvinojn, kiuj estas efektive vidvinoj.
Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 Sed se iu vidvino havas filojn aux nepojn, cxi tiuj lernu
unue montri piecon cxe sia propra familio kaj rekompenci
siajn gepatrojn; cxar tio estas akceptebla antaux Dio.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn
first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents:
for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 Tiu, kiu estas efektiva vidvino kaj izolitino, apogas sian
esperon sur Dion, kaj persistas en petegoj kaj pregxoj nokte
kaj tage.
Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in
God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and
day.
6 Sed la voluptamanta, ankoraux vivante, malvivas.
But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 Tion ankaux ordonu, por ke ili estu sen riprocxo.
And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 Sed se iu ne zorgas pri siaj propraj, kaj precipe pri siaj
familianoj, tiu malkonfesis la fidon, kaj estas pli malbona

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those
of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse
than an infidel.
9 Estu registrata kiel vidvino tiu, kiu havas ne malpli ol

Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore
years old, having been the wife of one man.
10 estas bone atestata pri bonfarado, edukis infanojn, gastigis

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up
children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed
the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she
have diligently followed every good work.
11 Sed la pli junajn vidvinojn malakceptu; cxar post kiam ili
ekfarigxos luksemaj kontraux Kristo, ili deziras edzinigxi,
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to
wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 meritante kondamnon, cxar ili vantigis sian unuan fidon.
Having damnation, because they have cast off their first
faith.
13 Krom tio ili lernas esti senutilaj, rondirante de domo al
domo; kaj ne sole senutilaj, sed ankaux babilemaj kaj
sintrudemaj, parolante nekonvenajxojn.
And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house
to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and
busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 Mi volas do, ke la pli junaj edzinigxu, nasku infanojn,
mastrumadu, ne donu al la malamiko pretekston por kalumnio;
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear
children, guide the house, give none occasion to the
adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 cxar kelkaj jam turnigxis flanken post Satano.
For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 Se iu kredantino havas vidvinojn, sxi helpu ilin, kaj la
eklezio ne estu sxargxata; por ke gxi helpu la efektivajn
vidvinojn.
If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them
relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may
relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 La presbiteroj, kiuj regas bone, estu rigardataj kiel indaj
je duobla honoro, precipe tiuj, kiuj laboras super la vorto
kaj instruado.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double
honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 Cxar la Skribo diras: Ne fermu la busxon al bovo drasxanta.
Kaj: La laboristo meritas sian salajron.
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that
treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his
reward.

Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two
or three witnesses.
20 La pekintojn riprocxu antaux la okuloj de cxiuj, por ke la

Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 Mi admonas vin antaux Dio kaj Kristo Jesuo kaj la elektitaj
angxeloj, ke vi zorgu pri tiuj aferoj sen antauxjugxo,
farante nenion pro partieco.
I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the
elect angels, that thou observe these things without
preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Sur neniun surmetu la manojn tro rapidece, kaj ne estu
partoprenanto en la pekoj de aliaj; konservu vin cxasta.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other
men's sins: keep thyself pure.
23 Ne plu estu akvotrinkanto, sed uzu iom da vino pro la
stomako kaj viaj oftaj malfortoj.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy
stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
24 La pekoj de unuj estas evidentaj, antauxirantaj al la jugxo;
kaj aliajn homojn ili sekvas.
Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to
judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Tiel same ankaux ekzistas bonaj faroj, kiuj estas evidentaj,
kaj la alispecaj ne povas esti kasxitaj.
Likewise also the good works of some are manifest
beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
Cxapitro 6
1 Cxiuj subjugaj sklavoj rigardu siajn estrojn kiel indajn je
cxia honoro, por ke la nomo de Dio kaj la doktrino ne estu
blasfemataj.
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own
masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his
doctrine be not blasphemed.
2 Kaj tiuj, kiuj havas kredantajn estrojn, ne malestimu ilin
tial, ke ili estas fratoj, sed servu al ili tiom pli, cxar
tiuj, kiuj partoprenas en la Didonaco, estas fidelaj kaj
amataj. Tion instruu kaj konsilu.
And they that have believing masters, let them not despise
them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service,
because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the
benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3 Se iu instruas malsame kaj ne konsentas al sanaj vortoj, la

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome
words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the
doctrine which is according to godliness;

He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and
strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings,
evil surmisings,

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute
of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such
withdraw thyself.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 cxar ni nenion enportis en la mondon, kaj ni ne povas ion
forporti;
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we
can carry nothing out.
8 sed havante mangxajxojn kaj vestojn, ni estos per tio
kontentaj.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 Tamen tiuj, kiuj volas ricxigxi, falas en tenton kaj
kaptilon kaj multajn malsagxajn kaj malutilajn dezirojn
tiajn, kiaj dronigas la homojn en detruo kaj pereo.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in
destruction and perdition.
10 Cxar la amo al mono estas radiko de cxia malbono; celante al

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while
some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and
pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses.

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all
things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate
witnessed a good confession;

That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable,
until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

malcertecon de la ricxo, sed sur Dion, kiu donas al ni ricxe

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not
highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living
God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 Ho Timoteo, gardu tion, kio estas komisiita al vi,

falsenomata scio;
O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust,
avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of
science falsely so called:
21 kiun konfesante, kelkaj maltrafis rilate la fidon.
