Cxapitro 1
1 Jakobo, servisto de Dio kaj de la Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo, al
la dek du triboj, kiuj estas dispelitaj: Saluton!
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the
twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 Rigardu cxion kiel gxojigan, miaj fratoj, kiam vi falas en
diversajn tentojn,
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations;
3 sciante, ke la provado de via fido faras paciencon.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh
patience.
4 Kaj la pacienco havu sian perfektan faradon, por ke vi estu
perfektaj kaj kompletaj, ne havante mankon.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be
perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 Sed se al iu el vi mankas sagxeco, li petu Dion, kiu donacas
al cxiuj malavare kaj ne riprocxas, kaj gxi estos al li
donata.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be
given him.
6 Sed li petu en fido, neniel dubante; cxar la dubanto similas
ondon de la maro, ventopelatan kaj skuatan.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that
wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and
tossed.
7 Cxar tiu homo ne pensu, ke li ricevos ion de la Sinjoro--
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing
of the Lord.
8 duoblanima homo, sxanceligxa en cxiuj siaj vojoj.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Sed la malaltranga frato gxoju pri sia alteco;
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 kaj la ricxulo pri sia humiligxo; cxar kiel floro de herbo
li forpasos.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower
of the grass he shall pass away.
11 Cxar la suno levigxas kun la brulvento kaj sekigas la
herbon, kaj gxia floro falas, kaj la gracio de gxia formo
pereas; tiel ankaux la ricxulo velkos en siaj vojoj.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it
withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the
grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich
man fade away in his ways.
12 Felicxa estas la homo, kiu elportas tenton; cxar kiam li
estos elprovita, li ricevos la kronon de vivo, kiun la
Sinjoro promesis al tiuj, kiuj lin amas.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is
tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord
hath promised to them that love him.
13 Neniu diru, kiam li estas tentata: Mi estas tentata de Dio;
cxar Dio ne estas tentebla de malbono, kaj Li mem tentas
neniun;
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for
God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any
man:
14 sed cxiu estas tentata, kiam li estas fortirata de sia
dezirado, kaj delogata.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own
lust, and enticed.
15 Tiam la dezirado, gravedigxinte, naskas pekon; kaj la peko,

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and
sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Ne trompigxu, miaj amataj fratoj.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Cxiu bona donajxo kaj cxiu perfekta donaco estas de supre,
malsuprenvenante de la Patro de lumoj, cxe kiu ne povas
ekzisti sxangxo, nek ombro de sinturnado.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no
variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Laux Sia propra volo Li naskis nin per la vorto de la vero,
por ke ni estu kvazaux unuaajxo de Liaj kreitajxoj.
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we
should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Tion vi scias, miaj amataj fratoj. Sed cxiu rapidu auxdi,
malrapidu paroli, malrapidu koleri;
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to
hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 cxar la kolero de homo ne efektivigas la justecon de Dio.
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Tial, formetinte cxian malpurecon kaj superfluon de malico,
akceptu kun humileco la enplantitan vorton, kiu povas savi
viajn animojn.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of
naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word,
which is able to save your souls.
22 Sed estu plenumantoj de la vorto, kaj ne nur auxskultantoj,
trompantaj vin mem.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves.
23 Cxar se iu estas auxskultanto de la vorto, kaj ne
plenumanto, li similas iun, kiu rigardas sian naturan
vizagxon en spegulo;
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is
like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 cxar li sin rigardas kaj foriras, kaj tuj forgesas, kia li
estis.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway
forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 Sed tiu, kiu fikse rigardas en la perfektan legxon, la

auxskultanto, kiu forgesas, sed plenumanto, kiu energias,
tiu estos benata en sia faro.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and
continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a
doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 Se iu sxajnas al si religia, ne bridante sian langon, sed
trompante sian koron, ties religio estas vanta.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not
his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion
is vain.
27 Religio pura kaj senmakula antaux nia Dio kaj Patro estas
jena: viziti orfojn kaj vidvinojn en ilia mizero, kaj sin
gardi sen malpurigxo de la mondo.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is
this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their
affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Cxapitro 2
1 Miaj fratoj, ne kun personfavorado tenu la fidon de nia
Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo, la glora Sinjoro.
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
2 Cxar se en vian sinagogon envenas viro kun oraj ringoj, en
bela vestaro, kaj envenas ankaux malricxulo en malpura
vestaro;
For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring,
in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile
raiment;
3 kaj vi respektas la bele vestitan homon, kaj diras: Sidigxu
cxi tie en bona loko; kaj diras al la malricxulo: Staru tie,
aux sidigxu sube apud mia piedbenketo;
And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing,
and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to
the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
4 cxu vi ne diferencigas en vi mem, kaj farigxas jugxistoj
malbone pensantaj?
Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges
of evil thoughts?
5 Auxskultu, miaj amataj fratoj; cxu Dio ne elektis la

kaj heredantoj de la regno, kiun Li promesis al tiuj, kiuj
Lin amas?
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor
of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which
he hath promised to them that love him?
6 Sed vi malhonoradis la malricxulon. Cxu ne subpremas vin la

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you,
and draw you before the judgment seats?

Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are
called?
8 Tamen, se vi plenumas la regxan legxon laux la Skribo: Amu
vian proksimulon kiel vin mem--vi faras bone;
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou
shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9 sed se vi favoras personojn, vi faras pekon, kulpigitaj de
la legxo, kiel malobeintoj.
But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are
convinced of the law as transgressors.
10 Cxar cxiu, kiu observas la tutan legxaron, sed falpusxigxas
pri unu punkto, farigxis kulpa pri cxio.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in
one point, he is guilty of all.
11 Cxar Tiu, kiu diris: Ne adultu--diris ankaux: Ne mortigu.
Se do vi ne adultas, sed mortigas, vi farigxis malobeinto
kontraux la legxo.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not
kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou
art become a transgressor of the law.
12 Tiel parolu, kaj tiel agu, kiel jugxotoj laux legxo de
libereco.
So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the
law of liberty.
13 Cxar al tiu, kiu ne kompatis, la jugxo estos senkompata; la
kompato sin altigas super la jugxo.
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed
no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
14 Kia estas la profito, miaj fratoj, se iu diras, ke li havas

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath
faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily
food,
16 kaj iu el vi diras al ili: Iru en paco, estu varmaj kaj
sataj; tamen vi ne donas al ili tion, kion la korpo bezonas,

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed
and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things
which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Tiel same fido, ne havante farojn, estas en si mem malviva.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Kaj cetere iu diros: Vi havas fidon, kaj mi havas farojn;
montru al mi vian fidon aparte de faroj, kaj mi per miaj
faroj montros al vi la fidon.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew
me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my
faith by my works.
19 Vi ja kredas, ke Dio estas unu; vi faras bone; la demonoj
ankaux kredas kaj tremas.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the
devils also believe, and tremble.
20 Se cxu vi volas scii, ho vantulo, ke la fido sen faroj estas
senfrukta?
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is
dead?
21 Cxu nia patro Abraham ne pravigxis per faroj, oferinte sian
filon Isaak sur la altaro?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had
offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Vi vidas, ke la fido kunagis kun liaj faroj, kaj per faroj
la fido perfektigxis;
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works
was faith made perfect?
23 kaj plenumigxis la Skribo, kiu diras: Kaj Abraham kredis al
Dio, kaj tio estis kalkulita al li kiel virto; kaj li estis
nomita: amiko de Dio.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham
believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness:
and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Vi vidas, ke homo pravigxas per faroj, kaj ne sole per fido.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by
faith only.
25 Tiel same, cxu ankaux la malcxastistino Rahxab ne pravigxis

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works,
when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out
another way?
26 Cxar kiel la korpo aparte de la spirito estas malviva, tiel
ankaux fido aparte de faroj estas malviva.
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without
works is dead also.
Cxapitro 3
1 Ne estu multaj instruistoj, miaj fratoj, sciante, ke ni
ricevos pli severan jugxon.
My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall
receive the greater condemnation.
2 Cxar multokaze ni cxiuj falpusxigxas. Se iu ne falpusxigxas
parole, tiu estas perfekta homo, kapabla bridi ankaux la
tutan korpon.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in
word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the
whole body.
3 Se ni al la cxevaloj enmetas la bridojn en la busxojn, por
ke ili obeu al ni, ni ankaux cxirkauxturnas ilian tutan
korpon.
Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may
obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Jen ankaux la sxipoj, kiuj, kvankam ili estas tiel grandaj
kaj estas kurepelataj de fortaj ventoj, tamen per tre
malgranda direktilo turnigxadas, kien ajn la volo de la
direktilisto decidas.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and
are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a
very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Tiel ankaux la lango estas malgranda membro, kaj fanfaronas
grandajxojn. Jen, kiel grandan arbaron ekbruligas fajrero!
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great
things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 Kaj la lango estas fajro; mondo da maljusteco inter niaj
membroj estas la lango, kiu malpurigas la tutan korpon kaj
ekbruligas la radon de la naturo kaj estas ekbruligita de
Gehena.
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the
tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body,
and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on
fire of hell.

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and
of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of
mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full
of deadly poison.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse
we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My
brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Cxu la fonto elsxprucigas el la sama aperturo dolcxan akvon

Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and
bitter?
12 cxu figarbo, miaj fratoj, povas doni olivojn, aux vinberarbo
figojn? kaj sala akvo ne donas dolcxajxon.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a
vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and
fresh.
13 Kiu inter vi estas sagxa kaj prudenta? tiu elmontru per
honesta vivado siajn farojn en mildeco de sagxeco.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let
him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness
of wisdom.
14 Sed se vi havas akran jxaluzon kaj malpacon en via koro, ne
fieru, kaj ne mensogu kontraux la vero.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts,
glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 Cxi tiu sagxeco ne devenas de supre, sed estas monda,
lauxsenta, demona.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly,
sensual, devilish.
16 Cxar kie estas jxaluzo kaj malpaco, tie estas konfuzo kaj
cxia malnobla ago.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and
every evil work.
17 Sed la sagxeco, kiu estas de supre, estas unue cxasta, poste
pacema, milda, cedema, plena de kompatemo kaj bonaj fruktoj,
sen partieco, sen hipokriteco.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then
peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy
and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 Kaj la frukto de justeco estas semata en paco por tiuj, kiuj
faras pacon.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that
make peace.
Cxapitro 4
1 De kie militoj kaj de kie bataloj inter vi? cxu ne de viaj
voluptoj, militantaj en viaj membroj?
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not
hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Vi deziras, kaj ne havas; vi mortigas kaj konkuras, kaj ne
povas akiri; vi batalas kaj militas; vi ne havas, cxar vi ne
petas.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and
cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye
ask not.
3 Vi petas kaj ne ricevas, tial, ke vi petas malprave, por ke
vi elspezu por viaj voluptoj.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may
consume it upon your lusts.
4 Vi adultulinoj, cxu vi ne scias, ke la amikeco al la mondo
estas malamikeco al Dio? Cxiu do, kiu volas esti amiko de
la mondo, farigxas malamiko de Dio.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Aux cxu vi opinias, ke la Skribo vane parolas? Cxu la
spirito, kiun Li logxigis en ni, deziregas envieme?
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit
that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 Sed Li donas pli grandan gracon. Tial estas dirite: Dio
kontrauxstaras al la fieruloj, sed al la humiluloj Li donas
gracon.
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth
the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submetigxu do al Dio; sed rezistu la diablon, kaj li
forkuros de vi.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he
will flee from you.
8 Alproksimigxu al Dio, kaj Li alproksimigxos al vi. Purigu
la manojn, vi pekuloj, kaj cxastigu la korojn, vi
duoblanimuloj.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your
hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Mizeru kaj malgxoju kaj ploru; via ridado turnigxu en
ploron, kaj via gxojo en malgxojon.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be
turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humiligxu antaux la Sinjoro, kaj Li vin altigos.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall
lift you up.
11 Ne kalumniu unu la alian, fratoj. Kiu kalumnias fraton aux
jugxas sian fraton, tiu kalumnias la legxon kaj jugxas la
legxon; sed se vi jugxas la legxon, vi jam estas ne
plenumanto de la legxo, sed jugxanto.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh
evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil
of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law,
thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 Unu estas la legxdonisto kaj jugxisto, Tiu, kiu povas savi
aux pereigi; kiu vi estas, jugxanta vian proksimulon?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy:
who art thou that judgest another?
13 Atentu nun vi, kiuj diras: Hodiaux aux morgaux ni iros al
tiu urbo kaj restos tie unu jaron kaj negocados kaj
profitos;
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into
such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell,
and get gain:
14 kvankam vi ne scias, kio morgaux okazos. Kio estas via
vivo? Vi ja estas vaporo, kiu mallongan tempon montrigxas
kaj poste malaperas.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is
your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little
time, and then vanisheth away.

For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live,
and do this, or that.

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is
evil.
17 Kiu do scias bonfari, kaj ne bonfaras, cxe tiu estas peko.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not,
to him it is sin.
Cxapitro 5
1 Atentu nun, ricxuloj; ploregu kaj kriegu pro la mizeroj sur
vin alvenontaj.
Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that
shall come upon you.
2 Via ricxo putrigxis, kaj viaj vestoj konsumigxas de tineoj.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Via oro kaj via argxento rustigxis; kaj ilia rusto atestos
kontraux vi, kaj konsumos vian karnon, kiel fajro. En la
lastaj tagoj vi kolektadis trezoron.
Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall
be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it
were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last
days.
4 Jen krias la de vi trompe retenata salajro de la laboristoj,
kiuj falcxis viajn kampojn; kaj la krioj de la rikoltintoj
venis en la orelojn de la Eternulo Cebaot.
Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your
fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the
cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of
the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Vi luksadis sur la tero, kaj dibocxadis; vi nutradis viajn
korojn en tago de bucxado.
Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye
have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Vi kondamnis, vi mortigis la justulon; li ne kontrauxstaras
al vi.
Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not
resist you.
7 Paciencu do, fratoj, gxis la alveno de la Sinjoro. Jen la
terkultivisto atendas la multevaloran frukton de la tero,
paciencante pri gxi, gxis gxi ricevos la fruan kaj la
malfruan pluvon.
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord.
Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the
earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the
early and latter rain.
8 Vi ankaux paciencu; fortikigu viajn korojn; cxar la alveno
de la Sinjoro alproksimigxas.
Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of
the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Ne murmuru, fratoj, unu kontraux la alia, por ke vi ne estu
jugxataj; jen la jugxisto staras antaux la pordoj.
Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be
condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10 Prenu, fratoj, kiel ekzemplon de suferado kaj pacienco, la
profetojn, kiuj parolis en la nomo de la Sinjoro.
Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name
of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of
patience.
11 Jen ni nomas felicxaj tiujn, kiuj elportis suferon; vi
auxdis pri la pacienco de Ijob, kaj vidis la finan agadon de
la Sinjoro, ke la Sinjoro estas kompatema kaj indulgema.
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of
the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that
the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 Sed antaux cxio, miaj fratoj, ne jxuru, nek per la cxielo,
nek per la tero, nek per ia alia jxuro; sed via jes estu
jes, kaj via ne estu ne; por ke vi ne falu sub jugxon.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by
heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but
let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into
condemnation.
13 Cxu iu el vi suferas? li pregxu. Cxu iu estas gaja? li
psalme kantu.
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let
him sing psalms.
14 Cxu iu el vi malsanas? li venigu la presbiterojn de la
eklezio; kaj ili pregxu super li, sxmirinte lin per oleo en
la nomo de la Sinjoro;
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord:
15 kaj la pregxo de fido savos la malsanulon, kaj la Sinjoro
relevos lin; kaj se li faris pekojn, tio estos pardonita al
li.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord
shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for
another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer
of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elija estis homo samnatura, kiel ni, kaj li pregxis fervore,
ke ne pluvu; kaj ne pluvis sur la teron dum tri jaroj kaj
ses monatoj.
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he
prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not
on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 Kaj denove li pregxis; kaj la cxielo donis pluvon, kaj la
tero ekproduktis sian frukton.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth
brought forth her fruit.
19 Miaj fratoj, se iu el vi forvagos de la vero, kaj iu lin
returnos,
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one
convert him;
20 oni sciu, ke tiu, kiu returnas pekulon de la elvoja forvago,
savos animon el morto kaj kovros amason da pekoj.
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the
error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall
hide a multitude of sins.
